Capstone project
The biggest project in my career as a student at CCAD, the Capstone Project is designed to be the cherry on the top of my design education. With the freedom to do whatever I wanted and a whole academic year to accomplish it I designed Hint of Sage, a blog that aimed to teach college students embrace their kitchens (or lack there of) to cook for themselves!
When I began my capstone project I wanted to focus on teaching young children how to begin their cooking journey in order to create a healthy relationship with food for life. The brand I created was called care-full kitchen and would be a children’s book that teaches kids safe kitchen techniques and encourages parents to give it a shot with their own kids to follow the recipe from the book for dinner.
After some thinking over winter break I realized that even my college aged peers still didn’t feel comfortable cooking for themselves. This saddened me so I pivoted my project to teach to older teens and young adults. That’s when I came up with Hint of Sage. The idea for the name came from wanting to share the small amount of knowledge I’ve accumulated over my college years to cook and share it with my slightly younger peers.
Social Media
One of the requirements for this project was to create a social media plan in order to bring attention to our project events. Below you can find some posts that I created for the brand.
Posters
In order to catch the attention of students around campus I created three posters to convince them that they could do better if only they had the resources that I was providing through Hint of Sage.
I used these posters to advertise the date and time of my cooking event by catching their eye with things that they would be very familiar with.
Because I hosted my event online due to COVID I was able to screen record the whole thing. This video explains the concept process I went through to create Hint of Sage and some finishing thoughts that I had after the event had passed.
